Carbide Threadmill

Thread mills provide an alternative process for manufacturing threads where tapping may not be a viable solution. Difficult or hardened materials, extremely tight pitch diameter or dimensional tolerance, and very large diameter threads are all candidates for the thread milling process.

Thread mills are used to produce threads on machining centers which are capable of helical interpolation. The Thread milling is an alternative to tapping on CNC machines for cutting threads.

Difficult to machine materials such as inconel, hard steels or titanium and short run jobs requiring taper pipe threads can be thread milled with good results.

One mill can be used for various diameters requiring the same pitch. That is a 20 pitch thread mill can be used to produce a ¼-20 NC, 7/16-20NC or ½-20 NC thread in different classes of fit and a variety of materials. This offers great flexibility when a small number of parts are threaded.
